TIM ROBBINS, DAVID REHR, CHARLES OSGOOD, KICK OFF NAB 2008

At 9am this morning the NAB convention in Las Vegas kicked off at the convention center.  At first glance it does not look like the American Airlines fiasco has tempered the attention at the convention...hallways and ballrooms are crowded as usual.  NAB President, David Rehr gave a rousing speech themed around broadcasters believing in themselves.  Charles Osgood got an award and was very gracious and creative in his acceptance....That was followed by actor Tim Robbins who came on with two chairs and a moderator saying he had written a speech but decided not to deliver it.  But, the crowd demanded he give the speech (great, funny setup) so he took it out of his coat pocket and delivered it anyway...about 18 minutes worth.  So much for freedom of the press...Tim's "people" ordered all video cameras off, so we don't have video for you...but we do have audio.  (this is all about radio anyway, so how convenient)...here are some 5 minute clips from Tim....Do know that the speech ended with a standing ovation from the thousands in the room....
