We have just returned to our studios in Carmel from Streaming Media

West..some 3,000 people gathered at the San Jose Conference Center
to sit out on the edge of new media. We had the pleasure of
listening to, and meeting some very brilliant people while there and
this week we'll be sharing some of our discoveries. At the top of
the list is a company called Wowza, or more specifically Wowza
Media. This company was founded by two Adboe employees, Charlie
Good and Dave Stubenval, who were disasstified with the Adobe Flash
server and thought they could do a better job at a much more
affordable price than Adobe. Flash is arguably the way to go when
it comes to streaming both audio and video on the Net...first of
all, at least 98% of the people who are going to come to your
website already have Flash installed...a big plus because no one
ones to get the "Download and install" instructions when they want
to hear or see your station, audio or video. Also, to our eyes and
ears Flash is better quality than most of the other formats out
there. If you have full pockets you can buy the Adobe Flash
server...or you can find one of the many services out there like
Streamtheworld to stream flash...or you can do it yourself with
Wowza, very efficiently and inexpensively. We sat down with CTO and
co-founder Charlie Good at Streaming Media West and he explained
Wowza and how it works...it's on line now on Radio Star
Radio...really important that people in the media know about this
great company.
