FCC OKAYS USE OF FM TRANSLATORS

WASHINGTON -- The Federal Communications Commission adopted an order yesterday by a 3-0 vote allowing AM radio stations to use FM translators, granting AM stations the ability to enhance their reach within a local community. Commenting on the FCC action, NAB Executive Vice President Dennis Wharton issued the following statement:

Sirius/XM made big news by announcing a new app that will let you listen to satellite radio on your iPhone.  The only problem is that it's the same price as regular satellite, but you won't get Major League Baseball, NASCAR, the NFL or even Howard Stern.  The block is apparently because of mobile phone rights that have to go other places..why this includes a block on Howard Stern is not clear.
